A Transformative Clinical Psychology Internship Experience at MYND: Yasashree Kalita’s Journey

My internship experience at MYND, under the guidance of Dr. Mythili Hazarika has been a profoundly transformative journey. Over the course of my training, I was exposed to a wide range of clinical cases including developmental disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and neurocognitive impairments etc.
I had the opportunity to observe clinical assessments such as IQ testing, VSMS, ISAA, and diagnostic interviews, and gained insight into the therapist-client relationship and the ethical protocols that govern clinical practice. These observations deepened my understanding of how theory is applied in real-world settings and taught me the importance of patience, presence, and cultural sensitivity in the therapeutic space.
What stood out the most was how the experience shaped my own emotional awareness and professional responsibility. It challenged me to reflect on my assumptions, encouraged me to ask better questions, and gave me a glimpse into the profound impact that mental health professionals can have on the lives of individuals and families.
I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity and highly recommend this internship experience to any psychology student passionate about clinical work. It has strengthened my motivation to pursue a career in clinical psychology.
