Mental Health Awareness and Stress Management Workshop at Hahchora Girls High School, Naga Gaon

As part of the post-disaster response during the 2026 Sivasagar floods, MYND Foundation—in collaboration with Pawns to Kings under the “Screens to Squares” initiative—conducted an interactive mental health and life skills workshop at Hahchora Girls High School, Naga Gaon. The program reached a total of 150 kids, engaging them in structured group sessions, stress regulation techniques, and cognitive skill-building activities.
Key Findings:
- General Mental Health Trends: The student body broadly reported heightened environmental anxiety stemming from flood-related disruption, excessive reliance on screens and mobile devices, and emotional dysregulation. A notable proportion of participating students disclosed experiencing routine panic attacks.
- Anonymous Outreach Disclosures: To provide a safe, low-pressure space, an anonymous chit-based outreach mechanism was utilized. Six students came forward with critical individual concerns.
Action Taken & Follow-Up: Immediate 1-on-1 counseling was provided to all 6 students following the workshop. Five students demonstrated improved emotional stability and were equipped with practical coping mechanisms. For the student presenting with severe depression and suicidal ideation, an immediate daily activity routine was assigned as a stabilizing measure, and the case was formally escalated to school authorities, guardians, and child protection officials for urgent, sustained clinical and psychiatric care.
