MYND Foundation’s MHPSS Flood Response Supports 46 Children in Sivasagar, Assam

As part of our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) flood response initiative in Sivasagar, Assam, MYND Foundation in collaboration with UNICEF and local child protection authorities reached a total of 46 children across two Child Care Institutions (Aaroti Bhawan and Kabyalaya). To address acute flood-induced stress and underlying institutional trauma, our multidisciplinary team conducted holistic activities including Group Play Therapy, Art and Expressive Writing, Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR), individual clinical counseling, and interactive chess workshops under the “Screens to Squares” initiative with Pawns to Kings. Clinical screenings (CPSS-V SR and SDQ) identified crucial psychological needs, enabling immediate targeted interventions, 1-on-1 de-escalation plans for anxiety, and timely reporting to government authorities for critical child protection cases.

Overall, the initiative provided these young individuals with essential coping tools, emotional regulation techniques, and a safe space to process distress reinforcing MYND Foundation’s enduring commitment to providing long-term, trauma-informed care and building mental resilience within vulnerable communities.
